1st Dieter Rams Forum

In winter 2023/24, the Museum Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt am Main hosted a duo exhibition with photographs by Ingeborg Rams and the travelling exhibition ‘Dieter Rams. A look back and ahead’ was shown. From February 2024, student designs for Braun/De’Longhi about the kitchen of the future were also on show. The TU Delft and the Politecnico di Milano were invited. On 11 November 2023, there was an opening event in the exhibitions in the presence of Dieter Rams, which turned into a cross-generational, informal, and very intensive evening of discussion between the professors, students, other visitors, and Dieter Rams.

The designer was and is concerned not only with his own work, but also with opportunities and fields of action for a younger generation. As a university lecturer at the HfBK in Hamburg, he passed on his experience over many years. As an author and lecturer worldwide, he was an early advocate of responsible design that is as durable as possible. Less, but better is his credo, which has lost none of its relevance to this day. Rather, it has become increasingly important the more we degrade our natural living environment.
The Frankfurt opening evening in November 2023 was the initial event for another field of activity of the foundation. Furthermore, current and future topics of industrial design will be discussed in public debates at the Frankfurt Museum and later at other locations. The spectrum of participants will be diverse.
